all done! i have to say that i lost a bit of steam as i got through these.. but it taught me i need to work quickly or ill lose interest. after the 3rd sin, i had new ideas - subject matters outside of the water.. hah - but i felt restricted by the series.. i had to finish before i moved on to my fresh idea-sparks

but now, im free! off i go :D

ok.. i dunno what it is with self portraits but i think i just hate doing them.. maybe because its so hard to make it look accurate and have convincing creative lighting.. im not done but theres a little peak of it.. i probably wont come back to it for a long time.. lol

the dragon and guy was a practice with color and lighting - you can easily tell that my method of painting was different for each figure.. the dragon looks painted freely and the man looks like outlines were colored in (exactly how i went about it). even the guy's left hand thing isnt done.. but i think i learned what i wanted overall - time to move on

top 2 grayscale images are ideas that ive had for a while - lighting is very important.. planning on making the left one really detailed. the right one i might just make look painterly

i did a ton of sketches on the plane trip to and from Hong Kong.. lots of ideas coming up - perhaps a cover of the 7 deadly sins (inspired by http://blackeri.deviantart.com/gallery/#Deadly-Sins ) - of course with my underwater people. thinking..: should i make them all female? or mix in some male characters. i havent done many males yet so i might choose that

Revisiting my old character Jet.. Planning on doing a nice 2d rendering of him as well as modeling in 3d - still revising.. hes gonna have some tattoos and a crazy design cello/weapon that i need to finalize still lol

another tiny peek - wanted to get some emotion in this one most of all - this shot will show off some more cool lighting effects, just wait ^_^. so many ideas! i gotta work fast!!

this guy is one of "the fallen"...... (yeah yeah, transformers comes to mind, but i had the idea long before i saw it - this story was in my head in 2005! i would daydream during my high school senior classes). the oasis has consumed him. any disturbance to his way of life and he goes nuts!

while the rest of my underwater scenes have been colorful and "happy", this follows the change in my story. the oasis has an effect on its inhabitants...

Here it is AGAIN.. i think the next post ill just post the final drawing - i think im close to finishing though

i feel like i need some more DoF elements.. but then i really want to move on to something else - i have lots of ideas and i hate getting stuck on one thing for such a long time

i need to remember that everything i do is a study, and the things i learn from finishing will help me progress in the next study... so i need to get movin through my studies so i can learn more! i need to stop getting stuck

ANYways ideas and feedback is always welcome - thanks all for watchin

well heres an update - rough colors and such. theres a bunch more effects i wanted to do, but i havent had practice with them - i will have to experiment! - after i finish this, i think ill do a close up of the mutated creature, and then model it! (maybe just the bust so i can get in a ton of detail) - right now the mutated character has arbitrary things on her, but on the closeup ill pay attention to what characteristics i give her ^_^

my biggest challenge today was keeping the environment a background element - earlier the background and characters were clashing - my eye couldnt tell what i was supposed to look at! - so i darkened the background and blurried it up a little - ill need to give my characters a little more contrast so people know they are supposed to be the subjects

so as some of you may know, i have a dream of creating a graphic novel when im.. 60 years old (because thats when ill finally have the time to work on it) - but that doesnt mean i cant make my ideas NOW.. so here is a new panel/frame/whatever from my story (which is very far from done so i wont even bother to explain it) - this is a WIP, so color and sorts will come later this week

i think i might model a better high detailed version of my amphibian species.. the last one i did was rendered too dark and.. i might just do the bust - idunno....

anyways stay tuned ^_^
